1 Characteristics of desertification, and resistance to it in al-Ahsa oasis.

Resistance to desertification, reforestation and cultivation of deteriorated desert locations.

Climatic changes in desert regions and their relation to biodiversity.

Development and expanded use of water from dams and valleys in the Kingdom.

Preparation for a project for the collection and storage of rainwater in the Kingdom in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Electricity and the Institute of Space Research at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

Preparation for a project to set up a “Higher Commission for Date Palms”, to be devoted to all aspect of the date palm and its products. Its organizational guidelines have been drafted by a committee of researchers and experts drawn from the Prince Sultan Center for Environment, Water and Desert Studies, the College of Agriculture at King Saud University, the National Center for Date and Date Palm Research in al-Ahsa, and the Center for Date and Date Palm Research at King Faisal University
